The ACT Government has changed the way it awards contracts to support businesses that do the right thing by their workers. Secure Local Jobs strengthens the ACT Government’s procurement practices so our contracts are only awarded to businesses that meet the highest ethical and labour standards.For businesses to work with the ACT Government Procurement Division for contracts over $200k they will need to apply for and obtain a Secure Local Jobs Code Certification. Businesses will be required to engage an approved auditor to assess whether they meet the requirements to obtain a certificate.
Businesses tendering for construction, cleaning, security or traffic management work need to meet workplace standards in the Secure Local Jobs Code and have a Secure Local Jobs Code Certificate. They also need to complete a Labour Relations, Training and Workplace Equity Plan if the value of work is more than $25,000. From 7 November 2019, businesses that want to provide services worth more than $200,000 to the ACT Government will also need a Code Certificate and Plan (we can assist with this for you)

Businesses will need to engage an approved auditor to assess whether they meet Secure Local Jobs requirements and can apply for a Code Certificate.
